AUG. 23 | Sony Pictures Home Entertainment is about to release in its entirety the crown jewel of its TV library—or the TV DVD industry’s “900-pound gorilla,” as VP of marketing Marc Rashba refers to the final season of Seinfeld.

A souvenir book will be included with the Seinfeld: The Complete Series set.
The last episodes of the hit show will be released Nov. 6 in a final season set and in a set with the first eight seasons. The four-disc Seinfeld: Season 9 will be priced at $49.95, while the 32-disc Complete Series will be $283.95. Prebook is Oct. 4.
The release marks the conclusion of a process that began more than five years ago. The first season DVDs launched three years ago.
“We’ve been saving some unique things for the end,” Rashba says. The Complete Series set will contain a new, first-time round-table discussion with stars Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Jason Alexander and Michael Richards and creator Larry David, with Jerry Seinfeld as the moderator.
The Season 9 stand-alone set includes some of the discussion as well, along with other extras.
"Seinfeld: Season 9 and the Complete Series gift set are going to be two of the most in demand DVD releases for the upcoming gift giving holidays," said Robert Oswaks, executive VP of marketing for Sony Pictures Television. "Sony Pictures Television worked closely with Sony Pictures Home Entertainment to create a beautifully packaged 'must-have' DVD set, which represents the best of a series considered by many to be the finest TV comedy ever."
The Nov. 6 street date was chosen to tie in with the theatrical release of Seinfeld-starring The Bee Movie, and the DVD will take advantage of publicity the comedian will be doing for that film.
